The Bangor Rod from F. Thomas 1935 nine foot bamboo fly rod in equal three foot or 36 inch sections.
Sections fit together tight, very sturdy when assembled and ready to fish. Some of the finish is missing here and there but mostly it looks good. Metal tip needs repair on 2nd tip, the bamboo on the tip is not damaged, the break occurred on the end of the metal eye where the hoop meets the shaft. All eyes are firmly intact and rust free on the rest of the rod.
It has the oval cork handle and feels great. There is a spot on the cork where the hooks were set (as a fisherman would do) and a little of the cork is missing. The triangle stamp on the butt cap end indicates the year of 1935 according to the Thomas company. Excellent used condition for a rod this old. The original canvas bag fits into the aluminum tube with a snug fit, be careful when removing and replacing the rod. The period correct extra tip is included for your repair if it will fit (looks very close). Update July 1st: Took the rod into my local fly shop today (Fish First) to see if they do consignments and they do not.The nice gentleman was happy to examine this Thomas rod. He put the three pieces together and commented Wow!
