This is a 1953 (May 13) Orvis bamboo fishing rod. 14406 on all 4 pieces. A 3 piece rod that includes two tips (4 pieces). I have never fished this pole and it looks only very very lightly used. If you blow up the pictures you can see it has been assembled.
There are a couple twist ma. Includes the original sleeve and aluminum tube. It measures 102 inches, 8 1/2 feet.
The brass threaded end of the tube is split. I have put a tie wrap around it. This rod is not rated for line weight. It is a light rod.
I would call it a trout rod. If you want more details call Orvis, do your research. I have included pictures of all the line guides, tips and important points.
Please look closely, blow them up. It is in excellent condition.
Even the sleeve is spotlessly clean. So you wonder why do I have it, It was in that old log camp in the pictures. I bought the camp in Jackman Maine and found the rod buried in an overloaded storage area.
I cussed at the "pipe" I tripped over dozens of times before I removed enough junk to be able to pull it out. I liked it better after I saw the cap on the other end and was blown away when I found what was inside.
I called Orvis with the serial number and they told me the build date. The item "Orvis Impregnated Battenkill Bamboo Fly Rod 8.5" is in sale since Thursday, February 18, 2021. This item is in the category "Sporting Goods\Fishing\Vintage\Rods".
