It is 8'6 in length, 2 piece, weighs 2 3/4 oz, and is designed for a 5 weight fly line. The blank is a beautiful dark green color with a cigar grip, light and clean cork, a burled maple reel seat, and gold anodized up locking aluminum screw ring and hood. The rod comes with its original factory red cordura hard tube in excellent condition, name plate with description, and separate cloth 2-section green rod bag. Orvis introduced the Trident series, the first fly rod to use MVR (Maximum Vibration Reduction) technology in 1995.

In 1997 Orvis acquired a majority share in Redington Fly Rods & Reels of Stuart, Florida, best known for its value-priced, quality rods. The following year (1998), Orvis introduced the Flex Index system to fly rod design, reaffirming its leadership in product design. Trident TL: These fly rods feature double-layer lustrous finish with an additional UV-blocking coat. Freshwater: Maple burl reel seats and gold anodized hardware. Saltwater: Black anodized, corrosion-proof reel seat and hardware. Extremely durable Cordura® rod case included. These Orvis fly rods come in line weights 1--10.

This is a versatile and beautiful fly rod that weighs nothing at all (actual weight is 2 3/4 oz) and casts like a dream yet has enough backbone to land bigger fish and cast larger flies into the wind. Cosmetically the rod looks new.

It has been used very gently and is fully functional. I have cleaned and maintained this rod after each use. This sweet little Orvis flyrod is an outstanding trout stream and lake pleasure to fish. It is one of the lightest rods I have ever cast, yet it can reach out in distance when necessary and has enough backbone to fight and land oversized trout. I have owned a number of Orvis rods over the years and this has been one of my favorites.
